Built in 1929, the staircase connects Morro dos Ingleses to Bixiga at Rua Treze de Maio.
With 84 steps and a height of 16 meters, it united the upper and lower classes of the neighborhood.

In the middle of an enormous space, between the earth and the sky, various species of living beings coexisted. And they all contributed to the cycle of a
food chain. Nowadays, however, climate change is caused by the activities of a capitalist system.

As the devastation of forests and industrial pollution are the main causes of catastrophes in the biosphere, they can cause a fatal imbalance in nature. When the force of divine nature reacts, it triggers volcanoes of incandescent lava, hurricanes, earthquakes and, above all, tsunamis on the Asian continent.

It is assumed that occurrences such as these dark phenomena have the purpose of readjusting the wear and tear on the earth’s surface in order to replenish raw materials. This replenishment of materials strengthens all the Earth’s tectonic plates and counterbalances the structure of the world.
Human beings, aware of the dangers facing the universe, want to rebuild the precariousness of ecosystems with their technology. Just as the life of living beings is restricted between birth and death, to surviving in that short space of life between earth and sky, alongside the seas, winds and clouds in constant turmoil, so is this work of art, whose theme is TSUNAMI. It is an asymmetrical composition with a central main element. Between the waves of the sea and the clouds, a transgenic tree with clustered red houses, which come to represent life and are also a symbol of civilization.
